Importance of Animation
The animation is the process of drawing, designing, making layouts and preparation of photographic sequences which are integrated into multimedia and gaming products. Animation involves the exploitation and management of still images to produce the illusion of movement. A person who creates animations is called animator. Use of various computer technologies to capture the still images and then to animate these in the desired sequence.
Multimedia is the term used to represent the combination of visual and audio materials gathered from the various resources and then added into one single combination. A multimedia product can be sets of texts, sounds, graphic arts, animations and videos. Precisely, term multimedia is used to refer visual and audio materials into the single common presentation which can be played in the computer including digital video, internet or web technology, streaming audio or video and data projection system etc.
The modern entertainment industry, i.e. film and TV has gained new heights because of advances in animation, graphics and multimedia. Television ads, cartoons shows, and presentation and model designs – all use animation and multimedia techniques.
Type of Animation
1. Traditional Animation
It involved animators drawing by hand for each frame. If you like the feel of pencils on paper, then the traditional approach is very interesting. In Traditional animation is creating the drawings one by one on a frame. 2D animation involves in creating the numerous pictures then feeding into the plastic cells, hand painting them and creates the animated sequence on the painted background image.
2. 2D Animation
Creating animations in the 2D space with the help of digital technologies is known as digital 2D animations. You don’t need to build digital models, and you just need to create the frames. Create 100s of drawing and animating them to show some movement is technically known as digital 2D animation. Using Adobe Flash, animators can limit the number of the pictures used, which makes them easier to create digital 2D animation.
3. 3D Animation
If you are interested in making the imaginary characters into a realistic one, then it is Digital 3D animation. The Digital 3D animation characters are much easy to draw, and they are popular in the movie-making industry. Using the computer software 3D animated pictures are used to create many short films, full-length movies and also in TV ads and a career in digital 3D animation is highly rewarding. Comparing to 2D animation and the traditional approach, 3D animation models are highly realistic.
4. Stop-Motion Animation
Using the one by one frame animation, physical static objects are moved around, and during post-production, it is shown in the fluid movement. Stop-motion animation has been around ever since the evolution of the puppets. There are many movies made using the stop-motion Animation method. Examples are “Fun in a bakery shop” built in 1902.
